Supporting Our Volunteer Fire and Emergency Service Organizations

The 2012 Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program (VFCVASGP) will open for applications on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The program will now provide up to $30 million in grants (up from $25 million) annually to assist with construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reducing existing debt. The grant program is funded with proceeds from the state’s gaming industry.
The new law also makes financial assistance available to some paid municipal fire companies, such as the City of Bradford Fire Department.
During the last decade, $3.2 million has been awarded to about 40 volunteer fire and ambulance companies in Cameron, McKean and Potter counties.
